In 1951, Capitol Records launched its ‘1600’ series – a series in which “All-time popular hits” from the Capitol catalog were re-released. The first 59 records (catalog numbers 1600 through 1658) were advertised in the June 30, 1951 issue of Billboard magazine. On March 15, 1952, Billboard magazine contained a new advertisement for the ‘1600’ series – this time, listing 71 records. Based upon this fact, I think the records with catalog numbers 1659 through 1670 were issued in March 1952.
