Corinthian Track

The Corinthian album ‘Songs Of Faith, Hope, And Love’ from 1978 featured re-issues of religious songs Jo Stafford recorded for Columbia in the 1950’s. The opening track, however, was a new recording:

Whispering Hope
with Amy Weston and Tim Weston (guitar)
Matrix No. unknown * Recorded 24th April 1978
First issued 1978 * Corinthian COR-111 (LP ‘Songs Of Faith, Hope, And Love’)

Unissued track, origin unknown

On August 19, 1957, Jo Stafford recorded ‘One Hand, One Heart’, a song from Leonard Bernstein’s musical ‘West Side Story’. Professor Nigel Simeone, author of the book ‘West Side Story Documented’, writes: ‘The original version of this song <One Hand, One Heart’> was the first music from West Side Story to be recorded: Jo Stafford made a single of it that has the tune in steady dotted minims. Coincidentally, she recorded it in New York on 19 August 1957 – the very same day as the show's opening in Washington’ (source: http://www.musicalcriticism.com/news/wss-0110.shtml ). We don’t know if Ms Stafford recorded the track for Columbia. The only thing we know is, that it was not issued at the time.
